CHURCH CONSTITUTION and BYLAWS
WAYNE CITY BAPTIST CHURCH CONSTITUTION AND BYLAWS
We declare and establish this constitution to preserve and secure the principles of our faith, and to govern the body in an orderly manner. This constitution will preserve the liberties of each individual church member and the freedom of action of this body in its relation to other churches.
This body shall be known as the Wayne City Baptist Church of Wayne City, Illinois, located at Meadow and Walnut.
To be a dynamic spiritual organism empowered by the Holy Spirit to share Christ with as many people as possible in our church, community, and throughout the world.
To be a worshiping fellowship, experiencing an awareness of God, recognizing his person, and responding in obedience to his leadership.
To experience an increasingly meaningful fellowship with God and fellow believers.
To help people experience a growing knowledge of God and man.
To be a church that ministers unselfishly to persons in the community and world in Jesus’ name.
To be a church whose purpose is to be Christ-like in our daily living by emphasizing total commitment of life, personality, and possessions to the lordship of Christ.
Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. In its broadest sense salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.
A. Regeneration, or the new birth, is a work of God's grace whereby believers become new creatures in Christ Jesus. It is a change of heart wrought by the Holy Spirit through conviction of sin, to which the sinner responds in repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Repentance and faith are inseparable experiences of grace.
Repentance is a genuine turning from sin toward God. Faith is the acceptance of Jesus Christ and commitment of the entire personality to Him as Lord and Saviour.
B. Justification is God's gracious and full acquittal upon principles of His righteousness of all sinners who repent and believe in Christ. Justification brings the believer unto a relationship of peace and favor with God.
C. Sanctification is the experience, beginning in regeneration, by which the believer is set apart to God's purposes, and is enabled to progress toward moral and spiritual maturity through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit dwelling in him. Growth in grace should continue throughout the regenerate person's life.
D. Glorification is the culmination of salvation and is the final blessed and abiding state of the redeemed.

Baptism and the Lord's Supper
Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer's faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, the believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead. Being a church ordinance, it is prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord's Supper.
The Lord's Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming.

God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption.
Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. It is God's unique gift to reveal the union between Christ and His church and to provide for the man and the woman in marriage the framework for intimate companionship, the channel of sexual expression according to biblical standards, and the means for procreation of the human race.
The husband and wife are of equal worth before God, since both are created in God's image. The marriage relationship models the way God relates to His people. A husband is to love his wife as Christ loved the church. He has the God-given responsibility to provide for, to protect, and to lead his family. A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband even as the church willingly submits to the headship of Christ. She, being in the image of God as is her husband and thus equal to him, has the God-given responsibility to respect her husband and to serve as his helper in managing the household and nurturing the next generation.
Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord. Parents are to demonstrate to their children God's pattern for marriage. Parents are to teach their children spiritual and moral values and to lead them, through consistent lifestyle example and loving discipline, to make choices based on biblical truth. Children are to honor and obey their parents.

4. Statement of Faith
We affirm the Holy Bible as the inspired word of God and the basis for our beliefs. This church subscribes to the doctrinal statement of The Baptist Faith and Message as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention in 2000. We do not regard The Baptist Faith and Message as a complete statement of our faith having any quality of finality or infallibility, nor is it to be used to hamper freedom of thought or investigation in other realms of life. We voluntarily band ourselves together as a body of baptized believers in Jesus Christ personally committed to sharing the good news of salvation to lost mankind. The ordinances of the church are believers’ baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
5. Church Covenant
Having been led as we believe by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of God and this assembly most solemnly and joyfully enter into a covenant with one another as one body in Christ.
We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, doctrines, and discipline; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, and the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.
We, also, engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger; to abstain from the sale of and use of intoxicating drinks as a beverage; to use our influence to combat the abuse of drugs and the spread of pornography; and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.
We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember one another in prayer; to aid one another in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and Christian courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay.
We moreover engage that when we remove from this place we will as soon as possible unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
6. Polity and Relationships
The government of this church is vested in the body of believers who compose it. Persons duly received by the members shall constitute the membership.
All internal groups created and empowered by the church shall report to and be accountable only to the church, unless otherwise specified by church action.
This church is subject to the control of no other ecclesiastical body, but it recognizes and sustains the obligations of mutual counsel and cooperation which are common among Baptist churches. Insofar as is practical, this church will cooperate with and support the association, the state convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention.
ARTICLE I. MEMBERSHIP
Section 1. General
This is a sovereign and democratic Baptist Church under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. The membership retains unto itself the exclusive right of self-government in all phases of the spiritual and temporal life of this church.
The membership reserves the exclusive right to determine who shall be members of this church and the conditions of such membership.
Section 2. Candidacy
Any person may offer himself as a candidate for membership in this church. Any such candidate shall be presented to the church at any regular church service in any of the following ways:
1. By profession of faith and their candidacy for baptism according to the policies of this church.
2. By profession of faith and promise of a letter of recommendation from any other church affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.
3. By profession of faith and statement of prior baptism, providing said baptism was by immersion and performed as a symbol of a prior conversion experience.
All applicants for membership shall be referred to the pastor and a representative of the deacons. They will make their recommendation to the church at any regular meeting following the candidate’s application for membership. A 75% vote of those church members present and voting shall be required to elect such candidates to membership.
A proper record of each membership proceeding shall be made to the Church Clerk who shall report same at the next regular business meeting and record it on the membership roll.
Section 3. New Member Orientation
New church members will be expected to participate in the church’s new member’s orientation plan.
Section 4. Voting Rights
Members who are regular participants in the life and work of this church are entitled to vote at all elections and on all questions submitted to the church in a conference, provided the member is present. It is the responsibility of parents to discuss with children, in the home, matters of importance that will be voted on at the meeting.
Section 5. Termination of Membership
Membership shall be terminated in the following ways:
2. By letter of recommendation to another church of like faith and order.
3. Exclusion by action of this church.
4. By written request.
5. Known membership in another church.
Section 6. Discipline
It shall be the practice of this church to emphasize to its members that every reasonable measure will be taken to assist any troubled member. The Pastor, other members of the Ministerial Staff, and Deacons are available for counsel and guidance. The attitude of members toward one another shall be guided by a concern for redemption, rather than punishment.
If some serious condition should exist which would cause a member to become a liability to the general welfare of the church, the Pastor and the Deacons will take every reasonable measure to resolve the problem in accord with Matthew 18:15-17. If it becomes necessary for the church to take action to exclude a member, a 75% vote of the members present and voting is required. The church may proceed to declare the person to be no longer in the membership of the church. All such proceedings shall be pervaded by a spirit of Christian kindness and forbearance.
Upon evidence of the excluded person’s repentance and reformation, the church may restore to membership any person previously excluded, upon request of the excluded person, and by a 75% vote of the church members present and voting.
ARTICLE II. CHURCH STAFF
All church staff must be members or become members of the church following employment, with the exclusion of Support Staff. The staff of this church shall be as follows:
Section 1. Pastor
The Pastor is responsible for leading the church to function as a New Testament Church. The Pastor will lead the congregation, the organizations, and the church staff to perform their tasks. The
Pastor shall fulfill the responsibilities detailed in his job description as set forth by the Personnel Committee.
The Pastor is the leader of pastoral ministries in a church. As such, he works with the deacons and church staff to:
1. Lead the church in performing its tasks;
2. Lead the church to engage in a fellowship of worship, witness, education, ministry, and application;
3. Proclaim the gospel to believers and unbelievers;
4. Care for the church’s members and other persons in the community.
A Pastor shall be chosen and called by the church whenever a vacancy occurs. His election shall take place at a meeting called for that purpose, of which at least one week’s public notice has been given.
A Pastor Search Committee shall consist of three Personnel Committee members and three at large members and shall be approved by the church to seek out a suitable pastor. This committee will remain intact until search is complete. Its recommendation will constitute a nomination. Any church member has the privilege of making recommendations to the committee regarding a prospective pastor. The committee shall bring to the consideration of the church only one nomination at a time. Election shall be by ballot. An affirmative vote of three-fourths of those present is necessary for a choice. The Pastor, thus elected, shall serve until the relationship is terminated by his request or the church’s request. The Pastor shall give at least two weeks notice at the time of resignation.
The Personnel Committee shall evaluate the Pastor on an annual basis utilizing the pastoral job description as the basis for their evaluation. The evaluation report shall be discussed with the Pastor by the Personnel Committee and an oral report presented to the membership at the August Business Meeting. The Personnel Committee may conduct a membership evaluation survey prior to their own evaluation if they desire.
If a member of the church has a grievance or complaint against the Pastor, ministerial staff or other member, that member shall present a signed complaint in writing to the Chairman of the Deacons. At this time the Chairman of the Deacons, Pastor, and aggrieved person shall meet. If the issue has not been resolved the Chairman will present to the deacons as a whole, and the deacons, aggrieved church member (s) and Pastor will try to settle the matter. If the deacons feel the complaint is valid, and it cannot be settled, they will present it to the Personnel Committee with their recommendation.
The pastorate may be terminated in any of the following ways:
1. By death.
2. By resignation, with a minimum notice of two weeks.
3. By vote of the congregation.
No proposal to terminate the pastor’s service shall be considered by the congregation without first being recommended by the Personnel Committee. All voting by the church concerning the termination of the pastorate shall be by secret ballot, and an affirmative vote of 75% of those voting is required for the termination. If the church terminates the pastor’s service, it shall be effective immediately, but the pastor shall be given one month’s salary, housing, and health benefits.
Section 2 Other Staff Members
A staff member shall fulfill the responsibilities detailed in his or her job description.
When a vacancy occurs, a staff member shall be elected by the church after being nominated by the Personnel Committee. Election shall be by ballot, with an affirmative vote of three-fourths of those present being necessary for a choice.
The Pastor and Personnel Committee shall conduct an annual evaluation of each employee on or before August 1 of each year. This written evaluation shall be discussed with each employee by the pastor and the Chairperson of the Personnel Committee prior to presenting an oral report of the evaluation at the August Business meeting.
Any grievance of the staff members shall be handled by the Personnel Committee after consultation with the Pastor. No church vote for dismissal shall occur unless recommended by the Personnel Committee after the employee has been invited to a meeting with the Personnel Committee and the Pastor.
It shall be the duty of the Personnel Committee, in consultation with the Pastor, to recommend to the church that the services of any other staff person be terminated when it is deemed to be in the best interest of the church. If a termination or resignation occurs, two weeks notice shall be given.
ARTICLE III. CHURCH OFFICERS
Section 1. Deacons
There shall be a sufficient number of deacons to minister adequately to the needs of the families of the church. This need shall be determined by the pastor and active deacons. When a need is determined, a deacon nominating committee shall consist of five members (two deacons appointed by the chairman of deacons and three members recommended by the nominating committee).
In all instances, men to be considered as deacons shall be faithful, God fearing Christians with regular church attendance, who have the confidence and respect of the church body, and who abide by the church covenant.
The church shall vote on an equal number of candidates as to the number of deacons needed. The deacon’s election shall be by secret ballot and will be held during a Sunday morning worship service. The notice of election must be announced in at least three regular church services prior to the election. A 75% confirmation vote will be needed for a candidate to be elected deacon. Newly elected, non-ordained deacons shall be ordained in a special service following their election.
1. The qualification for deacons in this church shall be those listed in I Timothy 3: 8-13.
2. No man who has been divorced or whose spouse has been divorced shall serve as an active deacon.
3. A man must be a member of this church for at least one year and shall be a minimum of 25 years of age before he can be elected as a deacon.
4. A deacon coming into the church membership by letter will become eligible for consideration as an active deacon after one year and upon recommendation of the deacon body. Approval of the recommendation requires a 75% affirmative vote by the church members present.
The duties of the deacons shall be listed in a separate job description. The original job description and any changes made thereafter, are to be a joint effort of the Pastor, the deacons, and approved by the church at a regular business meeting. The term for a deacon chairman shall be for one year. A chairman shall not serve for more than one full term until a year has elapsed.
Any deacon maintains the right to request inactive status for personal reasons. He may be reinstated to active status by recommendation of the deacons and approval of the church. The Deacon Emeritus status is reserved for those who have been faithful deacons, but can no longer serve because of health conditions.
Any active deacon who fails to fulfill the responsibility of the office shall be subject to discipline. The deacon body may take disciplinary action which they deem necessary, including asking the offending deacon to request inactive status for himself. In the event that the offending deacon does not accept the disciplinary action of the deacon body, then the deacons shall bring the matter before the church.
Section 2. Moderator
The nominating committee shall recommend a moderator to be elected by the church. Approval of the recommendation requires a 75% confirmation of the members present and voting. In the absence of the moderator, the Chairman of Deacons shall preside; or in the absence of both, the clerk shall call the church to order and an acting moderator shall be elected.
Section 3. Clerk
The church-elected clerk of the church shall keep in a suitable book a record of all official actions of the church, except as otherwise herein provided. The clerk is responsible for keeping a register of the names of members, with dates of admission, dismissal, or death, together with a record of baptisms. The clerk shall issue letters of dismissal voted by the church, preserve on file all communications and written official reports, and give required notice of all meetings where such notice is necessary, as indicated in these bylaws. The church may delegate some clerical responsibilities to a church secretary. All church records are church property and should be filed in the church buildings.
Section 4. Treasurer
The church shall elect annually a church treasurer. It shall be the duty of the treasurer to receive and preserve all monies or things of value given to the church, to make authorized disbursements, and to keep an itemized account of all receipts and disbursements. It shall be the duty of the treasurer to render to the church at each regular business meeting an itemized report of the receipts and disbursements for the preceding month.
Section 5. Trustees
Three trustees elected by the church will hold in trust the church property. They shall have no power to borrow money or to buy, sell, mortgage, lease, or transfer any property without a specific vote of the church authorizing each action. It shall be the function of the trustees to affix their signatures to legal documents involving the sale, mortgage, purchase, or rental of property or other legal documents where the signatures of trustees are required. After serving a term of three years, a trustee shall be eligible for reelection only after the lapse of at least one year.
ARTICLE IV. COMMITTEES AND COORDINATING GROUPS
Section 1. General
All church committee members shall be members of the Wayne City Baptist Church, and shall be recommended by the Nominating Committee and elected by the church unless otherwise indicated below. Each committee shall be responsible for electing its chairperson.
Section 2. Church Council
The primary functions of the council shall be to recommend to the congregation suggested objectives and church goals; to review and coordinate program plans recommended by church officers, organizations and committees; to recommend to the congregation the use of leadership, calendar time, and other resources according to program priorities; and to evaluate program achievements in terms of church goals and objectives.
The council, unless otherwise determined by vote of the church, shall have as regular members the Pastor, other Ministerial Staff, Music Director, Chairman of the Deacons, and all organizational directors (Sunday School Director, Family Ministry Director, WMU Director, Brotherhood Director). The Church Clerk shall serve as Council Secretary.
All matters agreed upon by the council, calling for action not already authorized, shall be referred to the church for approval or disapproval.
Section 3. Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee coordinates the staffing of all church leadership positions that are filled by volunteers. The Nominating Committee, excluding itself, recommends persons for all volunteer positions to be elected by the church.
The Nominating Committee shall consist of five members, nominated and elected by the church on or near May 1. These will serve as the Nominating Committee for that year. The Pastor shall serve as an ex-officio member.
Section 4. Buildings and Grounds Committee
The Buildings and Grounds Committee assists the church in matters related to properties administration. Its work includes such areas as maintaining all church properties for ready use and recommending contracted maintenance services. Election to this committee is for a three year term. A member of this committee will be eligible for reelection after an absence of one year from service.
Section 5. Finance Committee
The Finance Committee shall develop and recommend an overall stewardship information plan and administer the gifts of church members. They shall use sound principles of financial management by developing an annual budget for church approval, setting guidelines for financial accounting and financial procedures, monitoring the monthly financial situation of the church, and requesting special offerings as needed.
The following shall serve on this committee: Pastor, other Ministerial Staff, Clerk, Treasurer, all organizational directors, Chairman of Buildings and Grounds, Chairman of Trustees, Chairman of Personnel Committee, and Chairman of the Deacons. No member of this committee shall be a member of the Counting Committee and vice versa.
Section 6. Hostess Committee
The Hostess Committee is responsible for formulating and recommending to the church, policies for the kitchen and for communicating these policies to the church members. This committee shall be responsible for organizing and hosting bereavement dinners.
Section 7. Social Committee
The Social Committee shall assist with planning and serving receptions, fellowship, and dinners which involve the church.
Section 8. Church Ushers
The Church Usher Chairman shall be selected by the Nominating Committee and elected by the church. The Usher Chairman shall be responsible for securing volunteers to greet people as they enter, seat people, provide bulletins and other materials at the time of seating, and collect the offering. The ushers shall be attentive to the needs of the congregation and the Pastor.
Section 9. History Committee
The History Committee is to preserve and use the historical records of the church. The committee shall be especially concerned with gathering and preserving available church records, recording full and accurate records, and using the records to help members understand and appreciate their heritage and mission.
Section 10. Floral/Decorating Committee
The Floral/Decorating Committee is responsible for securing, arranging, and storing floral and decorative arrangements for church services. It shall secure arrangements for flowers or memorial gifts for the immediate family of bereaved members of the Sunday School or Church. Immediate family is to include father, mother, son, daughter, or spouse.
Section 11. Counting Committee
The Counting Committee shall be responsible to receive, count, and deposit in the bank monies collected. No one on this committee shall be on the Finance Committee and vice versa.
Section 12. Library Committee
The Church Library shall serve as the resource center for the church. The Church Library Committee shall seek to provide and promote the use of printed and audiovisual resources. The committee shall also provide consultation to church leaders and members in the use of printed and audiovisual resources.
Section 13. Personnel Committee
The Church Personnel Committee shall survey the need for additional church staff positions. Its duties are to prepare and update as necessary job descriptions; to prepare and maintain an employee manual; to recruit, interview, and recommend to the church new personnel; to develop and recommend to the Stewardship and Budget Committee salaries; and to conduct an annual evaluation of employee personnel.
This committee shall consist of six members, one third of whom will rotate off each year. A member of this committee will be eligible for reelection after an absence of one year from service.
Section 14. Constitution & By-Laws Committee
The Constitution & By-Laws Committee is responsible for monitoring amendments and recommendations to the constitution and by-laws of the church. When it is deemed necessary to have this committee for constitution and bylaws revision, it shall be made up of 5 members who will serve until revisions are complete. Members can be nominated from the floor at a regular business meeting.
ARTICLE V. PROGRAM ORGANIZATIONS
Section 1. General
All organizations of the Church shall be under church control with all Directors being church members, elected by the Church, and reporting regularly to the Church.
Section 2. Sunday School
There shall be a Sunday School, divided into departments and classes for all ages and conducted under the direction of the Sunday School Director for the study of God’s word.
The tasks of the Sunday School shall be to teach the biblical revelation; to reach persons for Christ and church membership; to minister to the needs of members and nonmembers; and to provide and interpret information regarding the work of the church and denomination.
Section 3. Discipleship Training and Family Ministry
There shall be Church Training Discipleship under the direction of the pastor with organizations as needed. The tasks shall be to orient new church members; to train church members to perform the function of the church; to train church leaders; to teach Christian theology, Christian ethics, Christian history, and church policy and organization; and to provide and interpret information regarding the work of the church and denomination.
Section 4. Senior Adult Ministries
There may be Senior Adult Ministries with a director and organizations as needed. The task of this ministry shall be to provide opportunities for spiritual enrichment and encouragement in Christian living through activities and fellowship with one another.
Section 5. Women’s Ministries
There may be Women’s Ministries with a director and organizations as needed. The task of this ministry shall be to provide resources and involvement opportunities for ongoing spiritual enrichment through personal Bible study, mission involvement, and sharing Christ with others.
Section 6. Men’s Ministries
There may be Men’s Ministries with a director and organizations as needed. The task of this ministry shall be to provide resources and involvement opportunities for ongoing spiritual enrichment through personal Bible study, mission involvement, and sharing Christ with others.
Section 7. Youth Ministries
There may be Youth Ministries with a director and organizations as needed. The task shall be to provide spiritual training, service projects, and social activities.
Section 8. Children’s Ministries
There may be Children’s Ministries with a director and organizations as needed. These tasks may include Children’s Church held during the regular church worship service as well as an evening program.
Section 9. Church Music Program
There shall be a Church Music Program under the direction of the Music Director. Such officers and/or organizations shall be included as needed. The music tasks shall be to train or secure persons to lead, sing, and play music, and to provide and interpret information regarding the work of the church and the denomination.
ARTICLE VI. ORDINANCES
Section 1. Baptism
A person who receives Jesus Christ as Savior by personal faith; who professes Him publicly at any worship service, who indicates a commitment to follow Christ as Lord, and desires membership in this church, shall be received as a candidate for baptism.
1. Baptism shall be by immersion in water.
2. Baptism shall be administered by the Pastor or whomever the Church shall authorize. The Deacons shall assist in the preparation for, and observance of, baptism.
3. Baptism shall be administered as an act of worship during any worship service.
4. A person professing Christ and failing to be baptized after a reasonable length of time shall be counseled by the Pastor and/or Deacons. If negative interest is ascertained, he shall be deleted from those awaiting baptism.
Section 2. The Lord’s Supper
The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby baptized Believers, through partaking of the bread and fruit of the vine, commemorate the death of Jesus Christ and anticipate His second coming.
1. The Lord’s Supper shall be observed at least quarterly, preferably the first Sunday of the quarter, or as otherwise scheduled.
2. The Pastor and Deacons shall be responsible for the administration of the Lord’s Supper.
3. The Deacons shall be responsible for the physical preparations of the Lord’s Supper.
ARTICLE X. AMENDMENTS
Changes in this constitution and bylaws may be made at any regular business meeting of the church, provided each amendment shall have been presented in writing at a previous meeting, and copies of the proposed amendment be furnished to each member present. Amendments to the constitution shall be by a 75% vote of all members of the church present entitled to vote; amendments to the by-laws shall have a concurrence of a majority of the members present and voting.
ARTICLE XI. MARRIAGE AND SEXUALITY
Section 1. We believe that the term marriage has only one meaning and it is that marriage sanctioned by God which joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive, life-long covenantal union, as taught in Scripture.
Section 2. We believe that God intends sexual intimacy only to occur between a man and a woman who are married to each other. We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.
We further believe that any form of sexual immorality (including but not limited to adultery, fornication, homosexuality, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, pornography, any attempt to change one’s sex, or disagree with one’s biological sex) is sinful and offensive to God.
Section 3. We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of the church as the local Body of Christ, and to provide a Biblical role model to the church members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by the church in any capacity or who serve as volunteers should abide and agree to this statement on Marriage and Sexuality and conduct themselves accordingly.
Section 4. In order to preserve the institution of marriage as defined by the Bible and this statement, no same-sex weddings or civil unions are to be performed, celebrated or recognized by this church or its officers, nor may they be celebrated or conducted on the property of Wayne City Baptist Church.
Section 5. We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
Section 6. We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines and practices of this church.
